Goodwood Flying School to continue Rob Wildeboer pilot scholarships in 2024

Goodwood Flying School launches its 2024 Rob Wildeboer Scholarships to help student pilots on their aviation journey after it received generous community donations.

There are currently four Rob Wilderboer scholarships on offer in 2024, including (2) 10 hour training sessions in a Cessna 172, and (2) five hour training sessions in a Piper Cub.

Melanie Wright, Flying School Operations Manager said: “Thank you to everyone who has kindly donated towards our scholarships. Since we launched, we have raised an incredible £25,000 and helped 15 students on their journeys. We’re delighted that we can offer 4 more scholarships this year, and we hope that we can continue this for many years to come.”

Asking what the scholarship meant, a 2023 Rob Wildeboer scholarship winner said: “If you want to know what that actually meant to me, I have no shame in saying that tears were genuinely shed when I found out I’d been awarded this honour.”

The scholarships are awarded to commemorate the life of Goodwood Flying School manager Rob Wildeboer who passed away from a sudden illness in 2021.

In addition to the scholarships, Pooleys Flight Equipment has donated a number of PPL/LAPL Course Training Books to support the successful candidates.
