PCL Awards & Event proceeding despite LHR shutdown

With the news of the complete shutdown at London Heathrow Airport this morning due to a substation fire that knocked out power, concerns started to rise that Pilot Careers Live wouldn’t go ahead this weekend. However, after having spoken with the PCL organisers, FTN is pleased to confirm that it’s still taking place.

The event commences at 19:00 this evening with PCL’s inuagural Flight Training Awards, taking place at the Sofitel Hotel at LHR T5.

The awards recognise the achievements of individual students undergoing commercial pilot training on the various different training routes available, namely Modular, Integrated and MPL (Multi-Pilot Licence).

For training providers, PCL is also recognising instructors that go above and beyond in their training of students, as well as those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the safe and smooth operation of a busy school operation.

The following day the Sofitel will continue to play host to PCL, with its bi-annual Heathrow-based training event. The show – the largest of its kind in the UK – provides an opportunity for aspiring pilots to meet many of the UK and Europe’s top training organisations and learn about the various training routes involved in becoming a commercial pilot.

Airlines will also be in attendance, giving advice on how to apply for jobs and what an airline pilot career involves. In addition to the exhibitor stands, airlines and flight academies will also be running seminars and breakout sessions throughout the day. Confirmed speakers include:

  • British Airways
  • easyJet
  • Loganair
  • Jet2.com
  • Ryanair
  • Skybus
  • TUI
  • UK CAA
  • FLYER
  • AON
