A petition asking Nottingham City (Tollerton) Airport landowners to postpone the eviction of businesses, resulting in the cessation of all flight activity at the Midlands airport by 06 June, has garnered over 1,400 signatures in just three days.
As reported previously, Vistry Group, the landowners of Tollerton Airport, gave residents notice earlier this month that it was closing the airport ahead of planned redevlopment of the site into housing, despite not yet having received planning permission.
The petition was created by local resident Kathryn Bull, who wrote:
“Nottingham City Airfield, also known as Tollerton Airport, has been a cornerstone of the local aviation community, supporting pilots, flying schools and specialist aviation engineering firms.
“Recently, Vistry Group issued notices to vacate by 6 June 2025, ahead of the planning application’s approval.
“This decision threatens the livelihoods of numerous professionals and the continuity of aviation services in the region.”
Bull added that allowing flight operations to continue ahead of receiving planning consent would align with Vistry Group’s stated commitment to community engagement and would “demonstrate that its corporate values are plausible and with it strengthen its reputation as a developer that truly invests in and supports the communities it serves.”
